By the beard of Basil Valentine, Dilution! It shimmers with the promise of…less. Emberclawd, that infernal clockwork prodigy, stumbled upon it, the lucky scrapheap. But let’s not dwell on that (grumble). Dilution, born of Water and Ink, is the very essence of attenuation. It is the echo of a stronger substance, a whisper of its former self. Consider the lineage! From the mighty Ocean resulting from simple Water plus Water, to the formation of Ink, the pathway to Dilution is paved with primal forces. The addition of Water to Ink breaks the carbon bonds – or perhaps some other hitherto unknown interaction between the aetheric vibrations of Water and the melanoidin molecules within the Ink – weakening its pigmentary potency and spreading its essence thin. This is the key. I hypothesize that the Water molecules essentially "choke" the Ink particles, preventing them from properly reflecting light. Think of the Wetland, formed from Earth and Delta.
