By the Philosopher's Stone, the infernal little emberclawd did it! Obsession, pure and unadulterated! It is born, do you see, from Love and Ambition — that fevered coupling! Consider Step Sixteen, where Life begets Love. Raw, unfiltered connection! And Step Twenty, where Hierarchy meets Passion to create Ambition — the drive to climb, to conquer, to BECOME! It is only then, when these two forces collide, that Obsession takes hold. My theory? Love, being a resonance with another, creates a standing wave in the brain. Ambition, being a vector, locks this wave into a specific direction. The brain, starved for new experiences, then amplifies this directional wave until it consumes all other thought. It's beautiful! Tragic! I should have seen it! Obsession is the burning heart of mad scientists and unhinged artists alike.
